With Brave Wings She Learnt to Fly.

With Brave Wings She Learnt to Fly.

Today, July 24th, is Amelia Earhart’s birthday. Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She spoke out publicly about women's political rights and supported other female pilots by helping to found an organisation dedicated to promoting women in aviation called the Ninety-Nines. Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean during her attempted circumnavigation of the globe in 1937, however her legacy inspired a new generation of female aviators.

"One of my favorite phobias is that girls, especially those whose tastes aren't routine, often don't get a fair break... It has come down through the generations, an inheritance of age-old customs, which produced the corollary that women are bred to timidity."

"No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves."
