It’s not easy to discuss knickers without sounding silly, but imagine having to live without them. For many people in the developing world such basic items are a luxury. Knickers 4 Africa is a charity who focuses solely on donating underwear to people in Africa.
In summer 2010, we set our loyal Momiji following a challenge; to donate pairs of underwear to Africa.
Using the power of Twitter, we pledged to donate a pair of Momiji pants to ‘Knickers for Africa’ for every 2 tweets we received bearing the message…
has just thrown Pants at you! (and donated some to Africa) #MomijiPantsParty http://ow.ly/1MrAx
The Pants Party was a great success attracting over 1,000 tweets from concerned fans across the world. It gained media attention from Marie Claire online and Bust Magazine and reached around 10,000 people globally.
were delighted to have people like Folk Punk artist, Frank Turner on board as well as bloggers; Cosmetic Candy & Angry Britain who all tweeted to spread the word.
We donated just over 500 pairs of Momiji underwear to people living in poverty in Africa and helped to make a real difference. Hopefully we’ll be able to do lots more for ‘Knickers 4 Africa’ in the future.
