Each year we visit the graduate degree shows at art and design colleges and universities up and down the UK. Often it’s the fashion and textile departments that really blow our minds; they’re always full of intricate detail and spectacular creativity. This year we decided to throw down the challenge to fashionistas world-wide to create a textile Momiji doll.
The closing date for entries was Monday November 16th. Make sure you keep up to date with our special Couture Contest Blog for the latest .
In July we headed to the New Designers show in London to spread the word about The Momiji Couture Contest. Zoe and Matt Murphy worked their magic to create our beautiful screen-printed stand.
The response was unbelievable and now that all the entries are in the judging is underway to select our favourite ten dolls which will be exhibited at Royal/T in Los Angeles. Our judging panel is heaving with fashion and design experts including Pip McCormac of Sunday Times Style Magazine, Barbara Hulanicki, founder of iconic 60’s fashion boutique BIBA, Deputy Editor of Selvedge Magazine; Beth Smith as well as Japanese art collector and owner of Royal/T, Susan Hancock.
