- momiji movies...no.4

This week’s video is a jaunty little number. Created by Danielle Mullis, with a soundtrack that will make you get your groove on and into the kitchen. We hope it inspires a spot of baking chez-vous.
Here’s a little interview with Danielle...
Name:
Danielle Mullis
Hometown:
London, UK
Tell us a bit about your Momiji moving image idea:
Momiji's love food and baking; so I made them their own cooking show ‘Secret Recipes’. I wanted the show to feature recipes that fans could follow, which meant making a film rather than an animation. To combat issues of scale I made the kitchen itself into the main character and head chef, the Momijis make cameo appearances by trying help out the kitchen (but mostly they end up hindering it).
Favourite designer:
Hammer & Tongs, filmmakers Nick Goldsmith and Garth Jennings (www.tongsville.com). They are just fantastically inventive, although I think they are at their best when they’re giving lo-fi filmmaking a good name (see their video for Radiohead’s Jigsaw Falling Into Place or Vampire Weekend’s A-Punk).
Favourite place:
Hastings beach as the sun is setting after a hot summers day, eating fish and chips while hopeful sea gulls look on.
Favourite place to shop in London:
Columbia Road Flower Market on a Sunday, best for picking up cheap plants and not so cheap vintage furniture and crockery.
All-time favourite Movie:
Amelie or Pan’s Labyrinth depending on my mood.
Your speciality dish:
Cupcakes of course! I make an awesome raspberry cake with loads of amaretto frosting.
And your final word...
